On Feb 9th, 2009 twelve rescued and rehabilitated sea turtles were release back into the Gulf Stream off the coast of Topsail Island, NC by volunteers of The Karen Beasely Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. The released sea turtles were given V.I.P. treatment and transported by the crew of the US Coast Guard vessel Ft Macon 47211.
